Yay!

I have decided I want a new name for my blog...I have no idea where to start though. Maybe one day I'll come up with something cute and clever. But for now I guess I'll just stick with this.

Since I had little Miss Sophie I have been half-ass trying to lose the rest of the baby weight. For all of like 2 weeks we did the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. And we were doing good with it. But for some reason, we didnt do it one night which led to us not doing it the next, and that was it. We never did it again! I am so not an at home work out person. I can find some many other things that I would rather do at the house than work-out. I hate doing laundry but if it came between doing laundry and working out, I would probably pick laundry. I just cant motivate myself to work out at the house. And I gained what little bit of weight I lost back. But since the beginning of the month I have been going to the gym pretty much everyday. At first I was just doing the eliptical and a little bit of weights trying to get myself back into shape. I am trying to start running too. Although I hate treadmills and running on them. Actually, I kind of hate running too but still I want to start doing it. And I started doing 2 of the classes they offer at the gym, rep reebok and zumba. I love Zumba...not so much this one though. When I did it at the Y in Springfield, it was so much fun and the instructor was actually hispanic and made up her own dances. These girls though, have no clue what they are doing and have a list of moves they follow and they do the moves to stuff like Lady Gaga songs. Its just crap...maybe I was spoiled. I dont know. But anyways, my point. Since the beginning of the month I have lost 11 lbs! And am officially back to pre-pregnancy weight. However, my body is obviously not quite the same and while I am pre-pregnancy weight I am not yet at my pre-pregnancy size. So I still have some toning to do but I am still happy about it. I have decided to set a 10 lbs weight loss goal for this month and next month (20 lbs total). I am determined to look hot in that bridesmaid dress in May and for the summer since we will be moving back to NC then. And while I doubt I will be sporting a 2-piece on the beach, I'd like to have the option and not look like a whale while I am laying out!

On another note, Sophie is full on crawling and is now pulling herself up on EVERYTHING! God help me!

Bowties w/ bacon & tomatoes

The beginning of last week I bought this recipe book I saw at the checkout in Walmart. Yea, I am one of those suckers that put that stuff out for! I always end up finding something else to buy while standing in line. It's a Pillsbury recipe card thing that has like 72 recipes in it. And most of them look pretty damn good. I decided to make this one pretty much because I had everything for it already and it was really simple. That is always a plus with 2 kids running around! I thought it was pretty good so here it is:

Bowties w/ bacon & tomatoes:
  • 4 slices bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces (I used more than 4but I love me some bacon)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes w/ roasted garlic and onions, undrained
  • 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
  • 3 cups uncooked bowtie pasta (6 oz)
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

In 12 inch skillet, cook bacon over medium-high heat 8 to 10 min, stirring frequently until browned. Reduce heat to medium. Add onion, cook 2 to 3 min stirring frequently until tender. Stir in tomatoes, uncooked pasta and pepper. Heat to boiling over high heat. Reduce heat to medium, cook uncovered 10 to 12 min stirring occasionally until pasta is tender and mixture is as thick as you like.

*The texture of the pasta will be a bit firmer because it is cooked in the tomato liquid.

Doctor appt. update

Well Sophie has her appointment this morning with Dr. Onal, the pediatric cardiologist in Springfield. I went into this not really sure what to expect. I mean, I knew she had a mild pulmonary vavle stenosis. They had already told me that. But I wasnt sure if they would want to do anything about it in the near future or what. I think in my head I had decided that it had to be somewhat of a big deal if they actually wanted us to come to Springfield to see the cardiologist instead of just having her pediatrician tell us what was going on. So we went to the hospital (thats where his office is). They weighed her and she had gained a pound since her 6 months checkup...which I think is good considering she is gaining weight slower. Anyway, they did a quick echo to get current images of it I guess. And Dr. Onal came in and pretty much told me what I already knew from looking it up online. He said there is a chance it could get better. It could stay the same and grow with her which would be good. Because as of now it doesnt effect her really. Or there is a small chance it could get worse. Usually if it hasnt gotten worse by the time she is a year old, it probably wont. We have to go back in 3 months to have another echo done. However, I dont understand why they couldnt have had her doctor tell us this instead of having me stressed out and worried for the last month. But for now everything is ok with her. Lets just pray it stays that way!
And now we are off to the gym for Zumba!!! I love Zumba. This is the first time I have done it since I got pregnant so it has been a while...I'm excited!!!!

I'm back!

I never get to update this thing...but then again with 2 kids, I rarely have time to myself and usually when I do there is house work to do! Its never ending!!! A couple months ago I thought, hey I'll make a page for both of the kids so I could update about them and have my own blog to talk about whatever I wanted and I would for sure keep up with them. Yea, that was in November and I made one post on each, mostly pictures. So I guess it is just back to one blog. But I am determined to keep up with it from now on! So while I cook dinner (Ill post the recipe tomorrow if it is good) and Sophie is content playing with her sippy cup on the kitchen floor, I figured now was a better time than any.

As for the kids:
Lyndon is 46 days away from turning 4! I'm still in complete shock that my baby boy, my first born, my little man is about to to be 4. Where did the time go?!? It doesnt seem in any way that it has been 4 years. But apparently it has! He is so independent and at time very helpful. He however has discovered how to lie! God help me!!! He tried to convience me today that it was Valentine's Day because he wanted this lion thing I got him that has chocolated covered animal crackers in it. And after asking for it and me tell him no because it was for Valentine's Day, he quickly told me "Momma, I saw on T.V. earlier that they said Valentine's Day starts right now". I couldnt help but laugh at him! Where does he come up with this stuff?!? And he is quick about it too...
Sophia is 7 months old. And the cutest thing ever if I do say so! She is a sweetheart and absolutely adores Lyndon. I have no idea why! She is slowly starting to get over being such a Momma's girl. I think it helps that I actually leave her with her daddy more now since she doesnt require me as often for eating. She has just started crawling too! She hasnt quite mastered it yet but she is getting pretty good at it. I left her on the living room floor earlier playing with toys and came into the kitchen to put dishes away. When I returned, she was down the hall in Lyndon's room playing with his toys. I am going to have my hands full with her!
On another note, we have to take her to the Pediatric Cardiologist in Springfield on the 15th. Her doctor notices a heart murmur when she was 2 weeks old and said if it was still there at 6 months they would do an echo. Well at her 6 month checkup the doctor still heard it so we went in for an echo and they sent everything to the Pediatric cardiologist in Springfield because there isnt one in Jacksonville. Needless to say, when the nurse called and said we actually had to take her to see the cardiologist I started freaking out. I had to call the nurse back to find out what she even said. She said Sophie has a mild Pulmonary Vavle Stenosis. From what I understand, it like a blockage or thicking of the wall in the vavle of the heart that pumps blood to her lungs. So I guess we will find out Tuesday what happens next.

And as for me, not much has changed. I still trying to lose all the weight I gained while I was pregnant with the little angel. So much for losing it all while breastfeeding. But we got membership to a different gym in town...World Fitness. So far I like it...alot better than the Y here atleast. Its been almost a week since we started going...minus a few day when we had the flu. Yea, that is a whole another story thought, talk about miserable! But I am about 6 lbs away from pre-pregnancy weight. So yay for that! But I have to lose that plus some so I can fit and look cute in a bridesmaid dress in May. So the journey begins again!
